Description

The Incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities of a staff of foremen and journeymen of several different trades. Day-to-day operations of the organizational unit are largely carried on through immediate staff foremen, who are charged with responsibility for specific areas of operation and with whom the supervisor confers in coordinating the organization’s activities.

He shall oversee the construction activities that take place on the worksite, supervising the contractors and staff while maintaining a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Operational Management

    • Expertise in industrial automation systems (PLC, DCS) and control systems.
    • Familiarity with various instrumentation technologies such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical sensors.
    • Perform daily plans for C&I works.
    • Create plans according to procedures and regulations, ensuring safety and communicating plans to the team.
    • Monitor staff performance and accomplish project goals by defining the scope and resources required.
    • Allocate resources, materials, and staff.
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to and enforcing safety codes.
    • Develop a suitable work breakdown structure for projects in conjunction with project management.
    • Direct and assign tasks to C&I assistants, ensuring timely project flow according to plans and specifications.
    • Assist in the continuous review of project planning, schedule development, and maintenance.

  • Planning

    • Develop and execute a planning team strategy that aligns planning functions with business objectives and achieves targeted results.

  • People and Relationship Management

    • Train, coach, and manage the performance of subordinates effectively.
    • Instill a one-family culture and be an ambassador for the business vision, mission, and values.
    • Ensure a culture of integrity and commitment to clients, staff, and all stakeholders.

  • Reporting & Analysis

    • Prepare daily reports, observations, and non-conformance reports as necessary.
    • Prepare inspection reports.

  • Budget Management

    • Support project management with cost control.

  • HSEQ

    • Responsible for ensuring crew and environmental safety.
    • Ensure that specifications comply with safety procedures and regulations and that the work area adheres to safety guidelines.

  • Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

  • Other Duties

    • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications

Education/Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering

Work experience:
10 years minimum

IT skills:
Proficiency in Excel and Word

Language:
Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili
