Project:

Tarakhil Power Plant

Entering Afghanistan at the height of the unrest, CSI oversaw the installation of all the mechanical works for the 100MW Tarakhil power plant, bringing the first block of six generators online in August 2009, and completing the facility in May 2010.

Working under principle contractor Black & Veatch — and as a subcontractor to Symbion Power LLC — CSI was responsible for the full BOP mechanical installations including the plant engines, fuel and fire piping, pumps and pumping stations, as well as the filter house assembly.

This project was carried out successfully despite ongoing civil unrest demonstrating CSI’s capacity to carry out engineering projects even in the most challenging of environments. The plant, funded by USAID, now provides back-up power for 600,000 residents of Kabul.
